USA in Connected Car Pole Position
Connected Car
The Consumer Electronics Show is taking place in Las Vegas from today, and will at times resemble an automotive exhibition. Amongst other car manufacturers, German giant BMW will present its latest smart technology that will make cars more connected. By definition a connected car is a car that has a permanent Internet connection, based on an embedded SIM card (eSim).
According to analyses from Statista’s Digital Market Outlook, with 13.64 million in 2017, the US already leads the race of countries that have the most connected cars on its roads. This is relatively little compared to some 131 million registered passenger cars in the US in 2014 (NHTSA; Polk &Co.).
The US will continue to lead with 35.60 million connected cars by 2021, closely followed by China with 32.19 million and Germany with 17.01 million.
