Latin America: impact of COVID-19 on GDP growth 2019-2022, by country

As of October 2020, Mexico's gross domestic product (GDP) was forecasted to decrease by 10 percent during 2020. These forecast places Mexico among the Latin American countries that will face the largest recession following the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the biggest economies in the region, Brazil was expected to face the lowest GDP decrease in 2020, at -5.4 percent.
