The first death caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Finland was reported on March 20, 2020. As of September 16, 2020, the number of deaths has since increased to a total of 339, including deaths occurred in care homes in the region of Helsinki and Uusimaa. The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country reached 8,750 on September 16, 2020.
