Finland: TV viewing time during COVID-19 2020

In March and April 2020, Finns spent around 25 to 30 percent more time watching TV during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, compared to the corresponding figures of 2019. Due to the self-isolation measures, the average daily television viewing time in Finland increased from 170 minutes in March 2019 to 212 minutes in March 2020. In the following month, the average viewing time grew even more, by roughly 29.5 percent, in comparison with 2019.

The peoplemeter approach is a continuous 24-hour measurement of in-home viewing from a long term panel of households, which is equipped with metering devices to monitor changes in set status and viewer appearance."
