According to a Capgemini survey conducted from December 2019 to February 2020, it was found that online users who were already able to use the internet were still keen to improve their digital skills. Overall, 44 percent of online adults worldwide felt that improved online skills would enable them to save money for important things like food and rent by buying cheaper products online. Additionally, 32 percent of online adults wanted to improve their online skills to get public benefits that they did not currently have.

Of the 5,000 surveyed respondents, approximately 1,300 were people who are currently not online via phone and face-to-face discussions and approximately 3,700 were surveyed via an online survey.
Respondents were from the following countries: France, Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States, and India.
