Share of consumers celebrating Valentine's Day in North America 2020-2021, by method

Compared to the previous year, many common celebratory traditions for Valentine's Day have been kept to a minimum due to COVID-19 concerns in 2021. While approximately 45 percent of Valentine's Day celebrators in North America went out to eat in 2020, less than one in five people did so this year. By the same token, however, an increased number of people ordered takeout or made a home-cooked meal in 2021.
