Number of online cosmetic stores on the e-commerce marketplace Yandex.Market has been growing gradually until 2018, when the maximum number of 41 such stores on the platform was recorded. After that year, the count of online cosmetic shops on the platform declined, reaching 30 in 2020.

The study included 56 online stores of beauty category (specializing in retail of decorative and self-care cosmetics, perfumes, products for manicure and pedicure masters, and make-up artists) listed in the 1,000 largest Russian online stores by orders volume, and two largest universal marketplaces - Wildberries and Ozon. Only online sales of cosmetics in the Russian territory were taken into consideration (excluding export sales).
