According to a survey on home purchasing behavior in China conducted in January 2021, over 55 percent of respondents found it unacceptable to split the costs between husband and wife. Only 19 percent of those surveyed would accept to share family spending equally within marriage.

Income: about 92.8 percent earned less than 20,000 yuan per month after tax, of which 44.1 percent accounted for between 5,000 and 10,000 yuan (one yuan equals approximately 0.15 U.S. dollars and 0.13 euros as of August 2021).
