The number of Russian-language posts on VK (Vkontakte) increased by nine percent on September 24, 2022, compared to February 24, 2022. That time frame marked the first seven months of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Meta platforms Facebook and Instagram, as well as Twitter, were blocked in the country during that period. As a result, the number of social media posts on Instagram in Russian fell by 74 percent.
