In 2016, U.S. gamers were believed to play an average of 3.6 mobile games per month. The most popular mobile game genre to be downloaded in the United States as of July 2016 was arcade, with 63.1 million downloads, closely followed by action games which recorded 61.5 million downloads. Among those users who downloaded mobile games, nearly a third had between three and five free mobile games on their devices as of December 2016.
