Currently Chrome 108.0 is the most used internet browser in Germany, followed by Chrome 109.0. This graph shows percentages for browsers used only on desktop computers and laptops, excluding smartphones and tablets.
Trust issues
Google Chrome experienced a jump in browser market share a few years ago, but recently their market share stabilized and even decreased slightly. Firefox has suffered a larger decrease in market share. It’s not all roses for Google, though. Google has been investigated and repeatedly fined by the EU Commission for essentially abusing its market leadership in various ways. The third fine was announced in March 2019 at 1.5 billion euros, regarding its anticompetitive restrictions for third-party websites.
Most popular search engine
Google’s leading position is echoed all over the world. Based on recent figures, the highest share of desktop search traffic from Google was recorded in India, followed by Brazil and Italy. Spain also made the top five.
