In the first quarter of 2021, local video streaming services accounted for the highest share of SVoD subscriptions in Sweden, at 42 percent. This marks an increase of five percent from 2019. Meanwhile, the market share of U.S. American platform Netflix declined by 13 percent in the Scandinavian country. Additionally, the launch of Disney+ in Sweden in September 2020 had a great impact on the SVoD market as well, as its share of subscriptions amounted to 10 percent in the first quarter of 2021.
