The value added of creative industries in Italy increased in 2021 over the previous year, after declining significantly in 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In 2021, the value added generated by architecture and design industries amounted to roughly 7.1 billion euros, rising from 2020 but remaining below pre-pandemic levels. Meanwhile, the communication segment followed a similar trend, as the value added of 4.8 billion euros recorded in 2021 did not catch up with the figure reported in 2019.
