Surgical face masks production volume in Japan FY 2012-2021
In fiscal year 2021, the medical use face masks production volume in Japan exceeded one billion pieces, up from about 351 million surgical masks in fiscal 2012. Following the outbreak of the global COVID-19 pandemic towards the end of fiscal year 2019, the production and import of medical use face masks were increased to cover the domestic demand from medical institutions and consumers.
