It's now a week since YouTube's most successful contributor, PewDiePie, was hit by Wall Street Journal led accusations of anti-Semitism. The star is alleged to have posted nine videos containing Nazi imagery or anti-Semitic statements since August. The scandal led to PewDiePie, real name Felix Kjellberg, being dropped by major partner Disney and YouTube itself. While this is sure to hit him financially, his subscriber count hasn't been affected in the slightest. On the contrary, Kjellberg, who in December became the first YouTuber to have over 50 million subscribers, has gained almost half a million new subs in the 8 days since the story broke.
