In 2021, the production value of noodles, bread and confectionery products in Japan was estimated to reach over six trillion Japanese yen, whereas the production of preserved farm produces was valued at only around 700 billion yen. That year, the total production value of the Japanese food manufacturing industry was estimated at over 36 trillion Japanese yen, with processed goods representing the core business.
