O-zouni and O-sechi were the most popular dishes eaten on New Year in Japan as revealed in a survey conducted in November 2022. Almost 65 percent of respondents stated that they ate the traditional soup containing rice cake (mochi) and vegetables, whereas over 61 percent took part in the tradition of eating a colorful assortment of O-sechi dishes.
