Japan: most sustainable fashion companies

The most sustainable fashion company according to the Sustainable Brand Index in Japan in 2022 was Montbell. The Japanese outdoor equipment manufacturer received a Sustainable Brand Index score of almost 105 index points, based on consumer opinions of the company's sustainable brand image and contribution to Sustainable Development Goals.
Fast retailing, the company behind the fashion brands "UNIQLO" and "GU", followed with a score of 103.93 index points.

*15,300 consumers were surveyed six times. Each survey included 51 companies, totaling 306 companies over the entire survey period. The sample for one company within one survey was 300 respondents.

The index was calculated based on the "image score of contributing to SDGs" and the "SDGs evaluation score". The original questions were as follows:

Image score: "For the following company, if you were to assign a score for "contribution to SDGs", what score would you give it on a scale of 0 to 100?"

Evaluation score: "Do you think it is important for companies to address the following issues?"
"For the following companies, do you think they are working on these issues? Please answer for each company."
