In 2019, moviegoers in the United States had to pay an average ticket price of 9.16 U.S. dollars. This marks an increase from 2017 where the average ticket price was 8.93 U.S. dollars. The average admission price for a movie theater has more than tripled since the mid-1980s, and has been steadily rising on an annual basis since 1993.
