
Counterfeit euro banknotes cut from circulation Germany 2014-2019, by denomination
This statistic shows the distribution of counterfeit euro banknotes, which were withdrawn from circulation in Germany from 2014 to 2019, listed by denomination. In 2014, the counterfeiting activity affected greatly the twenty euro banknote (36 percent of all counterfeits removed) and the fifty euro banknote (46 percent of all counterfeits). Over time, forging activity for both twenty euro note and fifty euro note increased, to 40 percent and 49 percent respectively in 2015. As of 2019, the share of counterfeited fifty euro banknotes fell to a four year low, at 56 percent. Forged twenty euro notes increased from the previous year to 24 percent.
