The self-generating fundraising income of museums and galleries sponsored by the UK government's Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) in England fell by nearly 37 percent in 2020/2021 over the previous fiscal year due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, the income generated through fundraising activities amounted to roughly 141.4 million British pounds between April 2020 and March 2021, the lowest figure reported since April 2011.
