Cinema admissions in Norway
The market shares of Norwegian cinema chains are based on the number of admissions in cinemas. Nordisk Film Kino recorded almost 2.61 million visitors in 2023. ODEON had roughly 2.62 million admissions. In total, cinemas in Norway reported 9.38 million moviegoers that year. That marks an increase of almost 600 thousand compared to the previous year, recovering slightly from the coronavirus pandemic that resulted in theater closures.
Visitors’ age
Especially younger people tended to go to the cinema. According to a survey from 2021, the share of 13 to 15-year-old Norwegians visiting the cinema at least once a year amounted to 59 percent. By contrast, only 22 percent of people aged 67 to 79 years saw movies in cinema in the preceding 12 months.
