Liver transplants in Mexico 2007-2022
In 2022, the number of liver transplants performed in Mexico amounted to 238 interventions, up from the 135 transplants completed a year earlier. This represents a year-to-year increase of about 76 percent. The sudden drop in liver transplants occurred along with the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the highest figure for liver transplants carried out in the Latin American country totaled 243 procedures in 2018. In the last year, 248 patients were waiting for a liver transplant in Mexico.
