US: confectionery market revenue, by segment

In 2020, the confectionery market in the United States had majority of its revenue generated from the preserved pastry goods and cakes segment with a value of approximately 73.21 billion U.S. dollars. According to the Statista Consumer Market Outlook, this value is expected to increase in the following years with the maximum revenue generated being in 2027 with a value of approximately 91.44 billion U.S. dollars. The segment generating the least revenue is predicted to be the ice cream segment.

Confectionery is defined as foods with a relatively high sugar content. The Confectionery segment contains chocolate and chocolate products, sugar confectionery (such as chewing gum and sweets), ice cream, and preserved pastry goods and cakes. This segment does not include spreads containing cocoa and jams (see: Spreads segment).
