Weekly household food waste in Italy 2019, by category

The awareness towards food waste, its causes as well as its economic impact has increased over the years in Italy. As of 2019, a survey was conducted among Italian households aiming at determining the food wasted weekly, ranked by category. It was found that an average of 114 grams of non-alcoholic beverages was wasted every week. The food wasted the least appeared to be cheese, as approximately 68 grams were thrown away by Italian families.
