As of the first quarter of 2021, some 42 percent of companies in Canada expected their profitability to stay about the same. The impact of the coronavirus has been larger on smaller companies. Businesses with one to 19 employees were more likely to experience a decrease in profitability in the next three months. On the contrary, companies with 100 or more employees represented the largest share of businesses which expected an increase in profitability in the near future.
