Yearly growth in global downloads of most popular app categories 2021

In 2021, tool apps saw a global increase in downloads of approximately 37 percent compared to the previous year. Finance apps also experienced a growth in yearly downloads, with users worldwide amassing almost 5.9 billion downloads of apps in this category, up by 28 percent compared to 2020. Between 2020 and 2021, gaming apps saw a modest increase in downloads, while photo and video apps saw around eight percent fewer downloads than in 2020.
