During an April 2023 survey among adults in the United States, more than half (52 percent) of respondents at least somewhat agreed that advertisements and commercials often kept men and women in traditional gender roles. One out of five interviewees disagreed, whereas the remaining 28 percent had no opinion or did not know the answer.
