Germany: online usage penetration 2016-2026

This statistic displays a forecast of the internet user penetration rate in Germany from 2016 to 2026. In 2026, the share of monthly active internet users is projected to reach 92.46 percent of the total population. This would be an increase of over 12.7 percent from 82.05 percent in 2016. In absolute numbers this would mean approximately 77.13 million users by 2026. The data presented was calculated in 2021 and includes all who use the internet via any device.
The share of men who use the internet was 83 percent in 2015 and 7 percent larger than the usage share of woman. According to Allensbach 42.79 percent of German speaking internet users surfed the web via a mobile phone or a smartphone in 2016.
