Italy: consumers' understanding of food labels 2017

This statistic illustrates the results of a survey on consumers' ability to understand the information contained in food labels in Italy in 2017. Nutrition labels on the back or side of the packaging include information on the ingredients, energy in kilojoules (kJ) and kilocalories (kcal), fat, saturates, carbohydrate, sugars, protein and salt. As of 2017, only seven percent of consumers stated they could always understand the information on food labels.
