In 2021, an estimated 27 percent of consumers in the Netherlands stated they regularly wait for sales or discounts before buying new clothes. For certain items, such as apparel and care products, a considerable share of Dutch shoppers were likely to do this, however, for other product categories, e.g., bags and books, it was not a common occurrence.
