In a survey conducted among U.S. marketers in March 2020, respondents were asked about how they were using or going to use a customer data platform (CDP). According to 42 percent of surveyed marketers their CDPs served as customer data repositories (used mainly for storing the data, stitching identities and analytics) and simultaneously as a data activation tool at the segment level. All in all the survey found that 50 percent of marketers were using a CDP.
