Monthly e-commerce share in total retail sales in Turkey 2019-2021

The beginning of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the lockdowns in Turkey affected the shopping behavior of many consumers, directing them to e-commerce. That effect caused a dramatic increase in the share of e-commerce in traditional retail from March 2020. The percentage of e-commerce in total retail peaked in December 2021 in Turkey, with over a 20 percent ratio, while in 2019, it was mostly around eight percent.
