Method of preparation among past-day coffee drinkers in the U.S. 2020
In 2020, the drip coffee maker was the favorite method for brewing coffee in the United States. Approximately 41 percent of coffee drinkers in the States used it for their past-day consumption. Other everyday methods on the list included single-cup brewing, cold brewing, and the bean-to-cup brewer.
Ranking fourth in 2020, about nine percent of coffee drinkers in the United States used espresso machines to brew a cup of joe the day before. While it was one of the most common preparation methods that year, espresso machine usage has fluctuated considerably over the last decade, reaching its peak in 2017 with 15 percent and its all-time-low in 2011 with just one percent. Four percent of U.S. coffee drinkers had used a French press (or plunger), which is an increase of two percent compared to the previous year.
