Method of preparation among past-day coffee drinkers in the U.S. 2020
Coffee making habits of the decade
While the drip coffee maker was the most popular method for coffee brewing in 2020, its use has decreased over the last nine years. In 2020, over three quarters of coffee drinkers used a drip machine for their past-day consumption.Ranking fourth in 2020, about nine percent of coffee drinkers in the United States used espresso machines to brew a cup of joe the day before. While it was one of the most common preparation methods that year, espresso machine usage has fluctuated considerably over the last decade, reaching its peak in 2017 with 15 percent and its all-time-low in 2011 with just one percent. Four percent of U.S. coffee drinkers had used a French press (or plunger), which is an increase of two percent compared to the previous year.
