Netflix's household take-up in the United Kingdom (UK) quarterly 2014-2023

The number of households in the United Kingdom subscribing to Netflix amounted to 16.7 million in the third quarter of 2023, down from the same period of the previous year. While the number has steadily increased until mid-2021, it has remained quite stable since then.

Netflix is top VOD

Netflix is the leading SVOD (subscription video-on-demand) service in the UK. Competitors such as Amazon Prime Video have also seen a rise in the number of subscribers over recent years, although their number of subscribers has fluctuated recently.

The titans of digital telly

The majority of the most popular digital original television shows in the UK are by far Netflix originals. In 2021, the show with the most demand was “The Mandalorian" from Disney+, followed by the Netflix's series "Stranger Things."
