Leading five social media and messaging apps in Italy 2017
Dolce vita is shifting from an offline to an online world
Italians did embrace the new way of communicating and according to a survey of You Gov the Top five social media and messaging apps used in Italy in 2017 were Facebook, WhatsApp, You Tube, Twitter and Facebook messenger. Facebook was by far the most used social media platform (72 percent) while the second and third most popular platforms were the messaging app WhatsApp and the video sharing website YouTube (used by 66 and 61 percent respectively).
Italians are increasing the data consumption
As the use of social media and messaging apps increased, the same trend can be observed when it comes to data consumption. On average, mobile data consumption of WhatsApp users in Italy ranges from 66 to 80 MB per month, as analyzed by the company Arbitryum.
