
Channel surfing: preference between online and live TV U.S. 2019, by age group
A recent survey found that whether Americans prefer online or live TV for unplanned viewing is dependent on age, with 66 percent of those aged 18 to 24 years old opting for online video services when channel surfing, compared to just 36 percent of those aged 55 and older. Viewers from older generations were more inclined to pick live pay-TV, with 64 percent of the age group 55+ preferring the traditional option.
