Generative AI is the latest innovation made in the artificial intelligence industry. It is a large subindustry, having grown considerably over the last few years, and is expected to continue its growth in the coming decade. The importance of generative AI comes primarily from its influence on the creative sectors such as music, writing, and art among others. These fields have mostly been the exclusive purview of human minds as artificial intelligence has not been capable of organically generating pieces of art. The generative AI will therefore reach far into larger markets besides just its own, ranging/expanding from art to journalism.What is the impact of generative AI?
The impact of generative AI can already be felt in several fields. While people in the United States consider AI likely to improve their lives, most individuals are rather ambivalent on the topic. Additionally, a significant increase in the adoption of AI in a plethora of fields is expected by 2025. ChatGPT also had astonishing success in attracting users. However, universities are already struggling with ChatGPT despite the recent release of the product. Particularly, they are facing difficulties with generated bachelors' content as it is more easily replicated. Similar issues have been raised in regard to Midjourney and Dall-E as artists consider it a mix of theft or simply “not art”. The resistance to change and technological development is natural, as there are worries about the consequences, the impact on human lives and well being. But resistance to development has rarely succeeded in history, rather than how well industries deal with said changes.
