Number of institutional funded project applications linked to AI in Belgium 2011-2017

As of 2017, the Flemish institute for scientific research (FWO) had funded 35 project applications which were linked to artificial intelligence, whereas the French-speaking Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique (FNRS) had given funds to four A.I. related project applications in the same year. FWO and FNRS are institutions that stimulate the development of new knowledge by financing scientists and research projects. Even though they are doing the same work and share the same office, the organizations were split up to represent the Dutch and French speaking Belgian communities separately.
