According to a survey conducted in October 2022, about 90 percent of e-payment users stated that they used e-payment transactions to pay online purchases. Its convenience and practicality were the leading reasons why Indonesians chose e-payment transactions. With the rising number of e-commerce markets in Indonesia, it is therefore not surprising that the volume of e-payment transactions has also increased. Indonesian e-commerce shoppers could make up to several e-payment transactions a week. Most of these users were aged between 35 and 54 years old.
Leading e-payment platforms
As of october 2022, GoPay (by Gojek) ranked first among the most used digital payment platform in Indonesia, followed by OVO and DANA. The security of the platform and its customer service were the top reasons why consumers preferred one platform over the other.
