Pandora
In 2018, Pandora was most popular among users aged 25 to 34 and users aged 55 or above. Between 2006 and 2017, Pandora’s revenue increased dramatically from 4.2 million U.S. dollars to over 1.46 billion, and in 2017 the company generated over 1.7 billion U.S. dollars in advertising revenue.

Additionally, just under 50 percent of the revenue was spent on content acquisition costs (royalty fees), which are also growing steadily. Since 2006, the company has reported net losses in every fiscal year, and has lost almost 350 million U.S. dollars since 2015.

Spotify
In 2016, Spotify reported 2.93 billion euros (approximately 3.4 billion U.S. dollars) in revenue, following a history of significant growth. Yet, just like Pandora, the company has not been able to generate any net income so far. In 2016, the net loss amounted to 539 million euros.
