iPod Touch - Additional Information
The iPod was first developed by Apple and released onto the market back in 2001. Since the initial release, the iPod has developed and evolved and at present there are 4 different versions available on the market: the iPad Nano, iPod Shuffle, iPod touch and iPod classic. While the market for MP3 players has been declining in more recent years as other technology and music mediums have become available, Apple has and continues to dominate sales and market share in this area.
When focusing on Apple’s sales and revenue from the iPod, it appears that this area of business is not showing a comparable trend to that of the highly successful iPhone and iPad. The share of Apple’s revenue generated from sales of the iPod has been decreasing continuously and significantly over the previous quarters. However, as is well know, the iPhone and iPad and also sales from iTunes are more than enough to keep this company in a clear position as a fore runner in the consumer electronics industry.
Here you can see a statistic about iPhone sales, showing an upward trend in sales, with peaks coinciding with the release of updated versions. Globally Apple has been making multi-billion dollar revenue figures on a quarterly basis since the beginning of 2009. Apple’s iPad also sells extremely well and is the leading product in the tablet market worldwide.
