Canada: smartphone user messaging service preference 2017, by age group The graph presents the most popular types of messaging services among smartphone users in Canada as of May 2017, broken down by age. The results show that 86 percent of respondents between the ages of 18 and 24 reported text messaging as their preferred messaging service, with one percent of 18-24 year olds citing BBM as their preferred service. Snapchat proved more popular with respondents between the ages of 18 and 24, with 63 percent of respondents in this age bracket citing Snapchat as their preferred way to send messages, compared to six percent of respondents aged between 50 and 64 years old.
