Brazil: online shopping penetration 2017-2020, by region
During a 2020 survey, the percentages of responding internet users who stated that they had bought products and/or services online in the 12 months leading up to the survey reached the highest rates since at least 2017 in almost all regions of Brazil. The exception was the Southeast, where São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are located. In this region, around 45 percent of internet users surveyed in 2020 said they had made purchases online, down from 47 percent in 2017. Overall, the penetration rate of online shopping among internet users in urban areas in Brazil has increased over the years.
