According to data gathered from the online fashion retailer Zalando's most recent annual report, between 2017 to 2023, greenhouse gas emissions from Zalando's operations have increased for Scope 1 and Scope 3 ranges. Whereas Scope 2 emissions saw a substantial reduction after 2017, Zalando's Scope 3 emissions increased, reaching over 5.8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent as of 2022.

The source provides the following information as guidance to GHG emissions figures: "All greenhouse gases regulated by the UN Kyoto Protocol have been accounted for: carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), and perfluorocarbons (PFCs).
Scope 1 refers to 'direct emissions';
Scope 2 refers indirect (energy) emissions;
Scope 3 refers to other indirect emissions.
