A survey of new and existing mobile gamers in selected countries found that new mobile gamers who had started gaming during the coronavirus pandemic spent more hours per week on mobile games than pre-existing gamers. As of October 2020, new gamers in the United States were spending an average of 13.1 hours per week on gaming apps, whereas existing gamers only spent 10.9 hours per week.

New players: Didn’t play mobile games before the initial peak of the pandemic, and continued to play at least an hour a week (July 2020) Existing players: People who played mobile games both before the initial peak of the pandemic and continued to play at least an hour a week (July 2020)
