Ranking of Norwegian brands 2018, by value In 2018, Statoil ranked highest among all Norwegian brands based on the value. The energy company was worth more than 65 billion Norwegian kroner. Compared to the previous year, that was an increase of seven percent. The second most valuable brand in Norway was the telecommunications provider Telenor, with roughly 54.5 billion Norwegian kroner.

But why is Statoil so successful? According to the source, the main factor is the higher global oil price in 2018, compared to the year before. Besides, the expected revenue growth, the workplace safety, as well as the reliability to deliver on its promises played an important role for this high brand valution.

Statoil’s name changes to Equinor

Due to show the brand strength and that Statoil is not only an oil company anymore, but also an energy company, it changed the name into Equinor. The enterprise is now also investing in alternative energy sources and is already operating three offshore wind farms. The goals are a low carbon future, as well as reducing climate emissions.
