The 15-second video app TikTok, developed by the Beijing-based company Bytedance, has become one of the most downloaded non-gaming apps in the world between 2016 and 2021. In the fourth quarter of 2021, TikTok achieved approximately 173 million first-time installs. The social video platform generated more than 740 million downloads in 2020, down by 32.5 percent from 981 million first-time installs in 2020.
