There were 101,344 dentists in Germany in 2022. Of these, almost 72,767 were actively employed. Numbers have been rising steadily in the last decade.
How often do Germans go to the dentist?
Regular visits to the dentist are usually a standard item on most people’s medical checklist. In Germany, the number of annual dentist consultations per capita was roughly 1.4 in 2022. This means that most people do not go to an appointment more than once a year. Statutory health insurance spending on dental care in Germany has been increasing, though at a relatively slow rate.

In 2022, private health insurance expenditure on dental procedures amounted to around 4.9 billion euros. Year upon year, the amount of money spent has increased.
