In 2023, the banking & investment services industry continued to be the biggest ad spender in Hong Kong, despite spending 12 percent less in advertising. The pharmaceuticals & healthcare industry followed with a seven percent increase. The order of the top four industry spenders remained unchanged.

According to the source, the advertising spending was calculated based on an assumption of 75% off rate the rate cards given by the media owners. Actual discounts may vary.
Excluded in the calculations were house ads and MTR Urban Lines ad spend in September 2022. For digital ad spending, only display ads were covered and search ads were not included. Social media ad spend referred to the branded content ad spend of Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
